The power of a tribe
You know that trendy catchphrase,
"Your vibe attracts your tribe"
It may be trendy, but it's true. But, why do you need a tribe?
Ok, first, I can't say tribe anymore, lol, I'm gonna say community ok?
Why is it so important to build a community of people when it comes to your health? Not just your physical, but your spiritual, and emotional health as well.
I'm going to give you a short version of my list, feel free to add to it in the comments!
You need to know that you aren't alone- There is power and comfort in knowing you are not alone, in both your struggles and your victories. There is no momentum in isolation. It can be a dangerous place for growth, especially if there are goals to reach. Which leads me to my next reason.
Accountability- Iron sharpens iron y'all. Having a group of people in your life that can not only call you out on your crap, but love you through it by empowering and encouraging you is so necessary. I honestly think I would be up crazy creek without a paddle if I didn't have a team, yeah literally a team, of people who love me, to call me out on my crazy and drive me to be better than I was yesterday throughout the process.
Mentorship- Something that my husband is so wonderful at, and has helped me to do with leading by example, is building relationships with people who have what you want. Wether it's the physical body, the job, the brand, the income, the talent, the company, the family, the prayer life, whatever! Whatever your goal is, find someone who has achieved it in a fashion that you see as realistic for you, and CONNECT WITH THEM! Asking for mentorship is not only flattering to the person your are asking, but it automatically puts you in a humble position where you are ready to learn. The day you stop learning is the day you stop growing. So surrounding yourself with people who will organically put you in a position to SKILL UP will absolutely set you up for success.
Like Minded synergy- Being around people who are like minded can actually inspire creativity. Imagine sitting around a table having a brainstorming conversation with people who "get" exactly what you are trying to do. Instead of wasting energy trying to fit in, or explain yourself, the like minded synergy can actually help get your creative juices flowing and spark new amazing ideas, rather than flooding your brain with opposition. I'm not saying you have to agree with your group all the time, but if your visions are similar those "disagreements" will most likely lead to an inspired solution rather than a shut down idea.
I was lucky enough to connect with someone who fits all the criteria above the other day! We met years ago and clicked instantly. We kept in touch via social media, but not on a one on one basis. Since then we have both had babies, and started a journey of working for ourselves and helping others with their health. We have different "jobs" but the same desire of impact. Creating a safe place for people to embrace their health, encourage transparency in a way that empowers people instead of tearing them down.
That's the beauty of this type of mindset. The delivery doesnt have to be the same, but if the impact is, then the sky is the limit for inspiration and collaboration.
This super mom is co-owner of Shine Studio in Redondo Beach.
Where they host the most fun, dynamic, empowering and effective workouts!
The studio is bright and inspiring, and so are the owners and instructors. The pricing is super competitive, and you get more bang for your buck with the type of culture they have created there. Making Yaya and her Shine Society a perfect fit for today's message on the importance of community. Please give them a follow on IG and FB and see what they are up to. I'm pretty sure a pool party/workout at Shade Hotel is it the works soon! Not only do you have that to look forward to, but an amazing collaboration with yours truly at unFiltered Life is in the works and I can't wait to impact more people with this message of health, transparency and love.
So friends, my hope for you is that you create, or continue to create, a #tribe of people who get you, love you, and inspire you to be who God means for you to be.
As always, I would love to start conversation about this in the comments below, and if you need to reach out with struggles or victories on this topic please do not hesitate to email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
